Install LegalRecorder
The app isn't in the Play Store yet, so you install it from here. You need an Android phone running Android 11 or newer, and the invite code you were sent.

The link works for an hour. After that, enter the code again.
Installing it
-
Download
Tap Download the app. Chrome may say "File might be harmful". It says that about every app from outside the Play Store. Tap Download anyway.
-
Open the file
Tap Open when the download finishes. If you miss it, find LegalRecorder in the Files app under Downloads.
-
Let Chrome install apps
The first time, Android says your phone isn't allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
-
Install
Tap Install. If Google Play Protect warns about an unrecognised app, tap More details, then Install anyway. It warns because the app isn't from the Play Store.
-
Start recording
Open LegalRecorder and tap Start. Allow the microphone and notifications. When it asks to run in the background, allow it. Without that, the phone can stop the recording to save battery.
On a Samsung, also open Settings, Battery, Background usage limits, and add LegalRecorder to Never sleeping apps.
Updating it
When there's a new version, come back here and do the same steps. Android installs it over the old one and keeps your recordings.
Don't uninstall the app to update it.
Uninstalling deletes every recording on the phone, kept ones too. If you ever need to remove it, share what you want to keep first.
